Today whilst undertaking a Wintering Bird Survey, it was noted that many songbirds are beginning to sing and defend territory. Furthermore Rooks, which are early breeders, were observed carrying nesting material. Rooks often re-use nests year on year and now that nest material is being added to nests means that they are classified are classified as active and are fully protected. The trees which support these nests can not be felled until any chicks have fledged.
